Bounty Program: Terms and Conditions

  1. The Tezos Foundation Bounty Program (the “Bounty Program”) Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) cover your participation in the Bounty Program (the “Program”). These Terms are between you and Tezos Foundation (“us” or “we”). By participating in the Bounty Program in any manner, you accept these Terms.
  2. The decisions made by us regarding Bounties are final and binding. We may change or cancel this Bounty Program at any time, for any reason.
  3. We may change these Terms at any time. Participating in the Bounty Program after the changes become effective means you agree to the new Terms. If you don’t agree to the new Terms, you must not participate in the Bounty Program.
  4. You must adhere at all times during your participation in the Bounty Program to all regulatory and tax legislation.
  5. You understand that your participation in the Bounty Program is at your own risk.
  6. You are responsible for paying all the taxes that may be applicable in your country of residence from the Bounty payment for the participation in the Bounty Program.
  7. You are at all times obligated to adhere to the Confidentiality requirements – all information obtained using, participating, or intending to participate in the Bounty Program belongs to the us and shall be deemed Confidential. We reserve the right to take legal action for the use or disclosure of information related to the Bounty Program or otherwise disseminating such information.
  8. You understand that if you submit a Bounty idea, the Tezos Foundation may not publish your bounty idea, or may make alterations to the bounty idea before publishing it.
  9. You are NOT ELIGIBLE to participate in the Bounty Program if:
    1. You are on a sanction list maintained by i.e.
      1. the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland; and
      2. the UN Security Council; and
      3. the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); and
      4. EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP); and
      5. UK governments’ HM Treasury.

      or are a resident of any countries on such lists.

    2. You are under the age of 18. You may participate in the Bounty Program if you are younger than 18 years, provided that:
      1. your participation is permissible in your place of residence; and
      2. you have obtained your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission prior to participating in this Bounty Program.
    3. Your organization does not allow you to participate in these types of programs;
    4. You already received a grant from us for the same features as are requested in a Bounty project;
    5. You previously developed and released code under an open source license and have not made any changes or completed any extra work for the Bounty submission.
  10. If you are participating as individual:
    1. You are either an individual participating in your own individual capacity, or you work for an organization that permits you to participate. You are responsible for reviewing your employer’s rules for participating in this Bounty Program;
    2. If you are participating with another individual(s) but have not registered a company, you must specify who the primary contact person is in the Bounty registration form.
    3. Where more than one individual is participating, the primary contact must confirm the payment arrangement (e.g. 100% payment made to the primary contact, or payment to be split 50%/50% between the primary contact and another team member).
    4. In the event that the Tezos Foundation pays one person on behalf of a team, the other team members must send an email to confirm they agree to the payment arrangement.
    5. The Tezos Foundation is not responsible for ensuring the primary contact passes on the appropriate % Bounty payment to remaining team members.
  11. You understand that you can only submit your results once for the same Bounty Program.
  12. You understand you can re-use code you have previously developed and released under an open source license, however you understand that the Tezos Foundation will only assess the additional work completed to fulfill the Bounty requirements, and you will not be compensated for the already published and re-used code.
  13. If you are currently an employee of the Tezos Foundation or any of its group entities or affiliates, you are only permitted to participate in the Bounty Program in your free time.
  14. We do not make any warranties, express or implied, guarantees or conditions with respect to the Bounty Program.
  15. Each individual Bounty confirms the following:
    1. Bounty payment amount
    2. The maximum number of teams who can work on the project
    3. You must create a github repository for submission
    4. You must create a good readme file in Github
    5. You must create a medium article describing how to setup and run the newly created software
    6. The Bounty must be deployed on Tezos mainnet
  16. You understand that you must complete the Bounty project work before the submission end date. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  17. All Bounty project submissions will be reviewed at the same time, and projects will be assessed against each other, within 2-4 weeks of the Bounty submission deadline date.
  18. All Bounty submissions are assessed at the sole discretion of the Tezos Foundation. Submitting a complete Bounty submission does not guarantee payout.
  19. If you are not successful, you will not be paid for the Bounty work completed. The Tezos Foundation reserves the right not to make a Bounty payment for low quality submissions.
  20. Tezos Foundation will provide feedback to successful and unsuccessful Bounty applicants. If your project is unsuccessful, we will provide an explanation.
  21. The decisions made by us regarding Bounty payments are final and binding.
  22. You understand that you will need to enter into an agreement with us before any Bounty payment can be made. You understand that you will need to provide us with additional information to prepare the supporting documentation.
  23. If you are selected from us to receive a Bounty payment, you understand that, for open source software, you shall release your work products under the MIT open source license.
  24. All Bounty payments made by us will be made in compliance with local laws, regulations, and ethics rules. Bounty payments will only be paid in USD/EUR/CHF/XTZ to an account/wallet owned by the participant.
  25. If you violate these Terms, you may be prohibited from participating in the Bounty Program in the future and any submissions you have provided may be deemed to be ineligible for Bounty payments.
  26. You agree that all matters relating to the Bounty Program, including all disputes, will be governed by Swiss law. All disputes regarding the Bounty Program are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Zug, Switzerland.
