Core Development

The Core Engineering and Infrastructure vertical support in the design, development and maintenance of the key software components that form the basis of the Tezos ecosystem, including the Tezos protocol, Octez and Smart Rollups. This is a collective effort of ecosystem teams – Nomadic Labs, Trilitech and Functori – where each team contributes their unique expertise to the development of the protocol and related infrastructure. These teams actively collaborate with infrastructure and tooling teams, ensuring seamless integration across the Tezos technology stack to offer optimal deployment targets for distributed applications.

Criteria: Core projects should ensure regular security and reliability audits.

Core Development

Consolidation of OCaml and Rust Base Libraries

Integrating and enhancing foundational libraries written in OCaml and Rust, known for their performance and safety, to improve the efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of blockchain systems.

Core Development

Observability Tools for Node Behavior Analysis

Developing comprehensive monitoring and diagnostic systems to analyze and visualize the behavior of blockchain nodes, helping identify performance bottlenecks and ensuring smooth network operation.

Core Development

Proof-Generating Virtual Machine Optimization

Improving the performance and efficiency of virtual machines that generate cryptographic proofs, leading to faster transaction verification, reduced computational costs, and increased scalability.

Core Development

P2P Network Programming

Designing and implementing protocols for decentralized communication and data sharing among blockchain nodes, enhancing the resilience, scalability, and security of blockchain networks.
